What Is A Disability?

I often find myself asking the question,
“Is there truly such a thing as a disability?”

Perhaps I’ll never know what it’s like
      to climb a mountain,
            or run a marathon.

But there are so many things I can accomplish
in my precious time on Earth.

I may never experience the pleasures
      of running, jumping and
            tumbling in play.

But I will always appreciate life, and delight in
the experiences of living with supreme joy.

Although my body is somewhat frail,
      my bones brittle,
            my muscles weak.

I possess a spirit with sinews of steel, and I grasp
onto life with an unquenchable desire.

Yes, there is much I’ll never achieve,
physical activities in which I’ll never succeed,
aspects of life I’m never to see.

But I’ll always believe that in life I can fly, because
when you believe in yourself no goal’s too high.
