Staring down the barrel
Of a gun filled
With outrage.

A family,
Waging an emotional
Tug of war with love
As the prize.

A people,
Fighting for a symbol
Of the oppression they
Escaped long ago.

Two nations,
Engaged in a political
Struggle conducted like
A morality ballet.

A mother,
Who gave up her life
So that a miracle
Could survive.

A little boy,
Who would trade
Notoriety for the
Innocence he's lost.
