I found myself caught in a raging storm,
That came upon me from nowhere. The sky had seemed so clear and blue, That it caught me totally unaware. It struck me with such an awesome force, It nearly threw me off my feet. My vision failed in the engulfing dark, And upon my brow, the rain did beat. I fell down upon my buckling knees, And I cried out in sorrow and shame. Why O Lord is this happening to me? Have I offended thy Holy Name? But then I looked skyward into the gloom, And through the darkness I saw a lone star. Gently it twinkled in the murky night, Like a signal calling me from afar. My spirits rose and my heart grew light, As my faith was reborn once again. I stood up to face the stormy tide, No longer enslaved by my sorrow and pain. Suddenly the rain ceased and the clouds broke up, And the horrible darkness fled from my sight. The sun shone down and warmed my face, And I basked in its glorious light. I lifted up my voice to give all the praise, To my Heavenly Father above. I was saved from harm by His sweet grace, And raised up by the power of His love. |
