I Search...
Copyright © 2000 by Gregory B. Banks

I search amongst the winking stars,
For the flame to ignite my soul.
To free me from the bitter frost,
That chills me to the bone.

I search throughout the depthless sky,
For the dream that we call Life.
Each second presents another choice,
And ever I wonder if I chose right.

I search within the fleeting clouds,
For the essence of my being.
I envy those with goals to chase,
It is my future for which I seek.

I search beneath the ocean’s floor,
For the answer to why I’m here.
We rose up from the seas so long ago,
Have we forgotten God’s first decree?

I search within the grains of earth,
For the foundations of my soul.
It’s richness feeds my spirit’s core,
Can it also bring self control?

I search inside my fractured self,
For the key to my restlessness.
I’ll find the truths for which I seek,
Upon the path of enlightenment.
