The Precious Jewel

Once God’s greatest promise,
It was a paradise so true,
Its lands were covered in greenery,
And its living oceans were deep blue.

Gentle breezes filled with purity,
Its surface teemed with life,
A world ruled by peacefulness,
Without worry and without strife.

A priceless gift that God gave us,
This precious jewel for all mankind,
Created so humanity could nurture,
Its collective heart, and soul, and mind.

But as sadly so often happens,
When beauty goes without care,
Its luster starts to fade away,
And upon it time begins to wear.

The polluted oceans are now lifeless,
All vegetation stripped from the land.
The skies are now all gray and weeping,
The precious Earth is no longer grand.

Now we mourn Earth’s slow passing,
Mankind has been such a Fool,
Destroyed is God’s greatest creation,
Lost forever is His Precious Jewel.
